The Warren Tannery was located at Bond and McMillan Sts. and was originally owned by John Amsberry who used it as a blacksmith and tool factory.  When Robert B. Warren purchased it in 1885 he converted it into a tannery.  R.B. Warren owned the tannery until 1866 when he retired, after which, the company was controlled by his brother William Warren Jr.  Warren Jr. operated the tannery for 27 years until 1893, but in 1875 the tannery was destroyed by fire.  The business was eventually sold to Charles Knees, who ran the company for a few years until it ceased to operate.
